Alberta's Grievance Game Backfires

When it comes to playing the grievance game, Jason Kenney is up there with the best of them.  Whether it's Justin Trudeau's Liberals or environmentalists or non-compliant premiers in other provinces, Kenney is a past master at stoking discord and resentment.

He must have been chortling as he watched the Freedom Convoy descend upon Parliament Hill. That's the Hubris part. He didn't see Nemesis heading his way until Saturday when truckers descended on Alberta's main border crossing at Coutts.

Here's how Rebel Media spins the blockade.

Kenney, however, is singing a different tune.

“This kind of conduct is totally unacceptable,” Kenney said during a news conference in Edmonton. “Without hesitation, I condemn those actions and I call for calm.”

An RCMP spokesman added: I’m calling for calm. I’m calling for a return to diplomacy.”

Somehow I didn't notice a lot of diplomats in those trucks.

  1. Well, the RCMP and other forces have ably demonstrated their military assault capacity in the past.

So much restraint when the drunken blockades are violently CONstructed rather than inherently and peacefully indigenous, eh?

  2. Yeah, the contrast is pretty clear. We don't mind unleashing the hounds on First Nations in their own territory but not a bunch of white thugs in trucks.

"This is dangerously naïve. In fact, what we have witnessed in Ottawa seems to have been taken from the pages of a classic “colour revolution” playbook observed in other countries and other capitals. To a significant degree it has worked effectively."

An unpaid blogger vs all the bs paid commentary.

The current Ukrainian 'crisis' was birthed by the same bullshit.

    1. Climenhaga now writes for The Tyee, NPoV.

I would like to think that the Canadian people are not disposed to a "colour revolution." For starters they lack the sort of leadership around which these revolts coalesce. These truckers don't have much public support, just the contrary.

They're not revolutionaries. They're closer to anarchists.
