This Is Sounding All Too Familiar

The Weather Network just posted its latest national update for January and February.

The cold snap that has hammered the West is expected to relocate to central Canada. You're welcome, Ontario.

As the frigid air leaves British Columbia it will be replaced by warmer, wetter air off the Pacific. Didn't we just have our fill of that? Could there be more flooding on the way? We don't seem to get much more than a week's notice of atmospheric rivers so it's anybody's guess.

And then what? In the second half of February we may be back in the deep freeze while central Canada warms.

The Pacific is experiencing La Nina conditions that are expected to last into April. The oscillation has definitely lived up to its reputation from bringing BC cold and wet weather.

It'd be wonderful if we could catch a bit of a weather breather so we could take stock of the cumulative impacts of the heatwaves, heat domes, wildfires, flooding and freezing over the past year so that we can begin focusing on adaptation and resilience measures.

  1. Anomaly or what?

Could it be an anomaly or our we becoming little bit? over concerned?
I remember the end of oil , the end of natural gas , the year 2000 rollover into www collapse!
La Nina is not a AGW event.

Whatever, it's frigging snowing again and i just finished digging out from the last snowfall which compared to the 1996 https://www.cbc.ca/archives/entry/1996-bc-digs-out-from-massive-blizzard, is nothing but pain in the ass.

Prince George is reeling from - 45 degree weather.
my first winter in Canada, in Prince George we had - 51 for two days.

AGW is real but I will not overstate it!

    Be safe..

    1. La Nina is not an AGW event but no one suggested it was. It is only an issue because planetary warming can amplify its effects. One element that they both share is our modified jet stream. You can look that up if you like. And, last I checked, no one asked you to overstate anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.
