Sunday It Is

It's reported that Justin Trudeau will announce an election call this Sunday.

Apparently the climate-dodger will make this election a referendum on his government's handling of Covid-19. The Liberals supposedly want a mandate for their recovery plan.

This has nothing to do with polls showing O'Toole languishing. It has nothing to do with those same polls suggesting the Liberals in their best position for ages to possibly get another majority. It has absolutely nothing to do with the risk of Canada getting called out at November's Glasgow climate summit over its shameless support of our climate-wrecking bitumen economy.

  1. I predict he will encounter a lot of resentment, Mound, as we go into a fourth wave of Covid and his government has two years left in his mandate. A cranky electorate is not something I would want to bet on.

    1. You could well be right, Lorne. He could still reconsider. I wonder who is really calling the shots on this one.

  2. With voter apathy as it is the NDP with their ability to get out the vote, could cause problems for Trudeau.
My! party, the Greens are no where to be seen, perhaps they have changed colour?
That said I will likely vote for none of the above..

    1. I think a lot of us will be unenthused by a needless election. I just heard a report on CBC quoting Liberal insiders as saying they think Trudeau has to go now because the polling advantage may not hold up in months to come.

  3. I don't sense a lot of excitement in the air.
