Shaping Our Kids' Future

It's hard to scrounge up money for climate change adaptation when you need those tens of billions for more important things, pipelines.  Just look at Justin Trudeau's eager beavers driving the Trans Mountain pipeline ever closer to "tidewater" in Burnaby.

When it comes to infrastructure, Justin has billions upon billions for pipelines but, by contrast, very little to avert the murderous impacts of climate change already sweeping our nation. What does that say to you?

23 billion dollars in federal and provincial contributions to pipelines over just the last three years. Harper never came close to that. He ought to be hiding his face in shame. Shame on you, Steve, shame. You didn't deliver, not like this guy.

Vanessa Corkal, policy advisor for Canada Energy Transitions at the institute, says it’s impossible to calculate the exact amount of pipeline subsidies because of a lack of government transparency.

It’s important Canadians understand the financial risk governments have made by investing in pipelines, which may never get finished or never pay off, Corkal says.

23 billion and counting. Around and round, it goes. Where it stops, nobody knows.
