A General Cooks His Own Goose
Former chief of defence staff, general Jonathan Vance, is neck deep in allegations of inappropriate conduct toward female subordinates. Now, it's alleged, he's gone from the frying pan into the fire.
Vance has been charged with obstruction of justice.
According to the court documents, military police allege that between Feb. 1 and Feb. 3, Vance "did willfully attempt to obstruct the course of justice in a judicial proceeding by repeatedly contacting Mrs K.B. by phone and attempting to persuade her to make false statements about their past relationship to the Canadians Forces National Investigation Service, contrary to section 139(1) of the Criminal Code."I expect Vance knew the risk he was taking in placing phone calls to a witness in an investigation into his misconduct. Pretty much any communication these days is traceable. This had to have been an act of ultimate desperation.
He's denied having an affair with a subordinate who claims Vance fathered two of her children. The guy has to know he's dead on DNA evidence alone.
