    That is a bs list. I hate to say it as I love my country, but Canada should not be on that list, but for example India and Iran should be (yes I said Iran, they have no history of invading other countries, we on the other hand, thanks to American pressure, do have a history of regime change wars in places like Afganistan and former Yugoslavia.

    .. I often wonder what 'our' National Interest is re Venezuela..
    Basically it would seem Mr Trudeau, Ms Freeland et al wish to meddle Canada in Venezuela politics, whereupon the net result of their 'position' would simply finish off the Alberta Tar Sands. If their 'position' matches that of the USA as I understand it, then Venezuelan Bitumen would slam the American Gulf Coast refineries with less expensive, higher grade Bitumen via state of the art deep water mega supertankers. Those tankers can load and unload simultaneously - full load, faster etc via a straight shot across the Carribean. Further, they can sail cross Atlantic to the mystery clients Jason Kenney raves about. What then Alberta ? 'All that wealth in the ground' ?

      Indeed, if there is any viability left in the Alberta tar sands, it disappears quickly if Venezuelan heavy oil is available.
      But Canada would never compromise its principles over oil money, eh?

    @ Salamander ; Canada's meddling in Venezuela is indeed puzzling ; perhaps a sign of virtue signalling to the USA after all we had no issues bombing Libya that other oil rich nation on behalf of the USA!

Who Asks "Why?"

Every time there's a conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians, all we hear is 'why?'  Why, as in, whose fault is this? It's easier to affix blame if you can truncate the event. Pick a convenient start date, something recent. In this case we'll make it either the Israeli eviction of Arabs from Jerusalem or the scuffle that took place outside the mosque in response. If those don't work, let's go for Hamas launching unguided rockets into Israel. That's even better because it tags Hamas with the blame. The nice thing about this approach is you can just keep using it. It goes on and on, just as it has for the past half-century since the '67 war.
