Have We Become Addicted to "Sordid"?
How much more mileage are we going to get out of the rise and fall of Donald Trump and his Merry Band of Grifters? Does part of you sort of hope that this is just going to keep rolling on now that we're into the consequences stage? Do you yearn to see Trump hoist on his own petard, expressing fear in the only way he can, through rage? And what about the Hellspawn - Ivanka (and Jared), the ever odious Don Jr., and Ambergris, a.k.a. Eric the Dullwitted?
Then there's the potentially indictable supporting cast - guys like Rudy, Stephen Miller, Bill Barr, Bannon, Nunes etc. It seems like there's plenty of opportunity there for a lot of people to roll over on a lot of people. And they all know there's one guy who'll readily thrown them under the bus to save an extra square inch of his own hide. Who do you imagine they fear most - some US Attorney or Donald Trump?
Now imagine the media. They've been lining their pockets with Trump coverage going back to 2015 when the Great Orange Bloat launched his campaign for the Republican nomination. The Trump Follies have been a huge money maker for those guys. What are they going to do, poor devils?
You and me? We've got window seats on the scenic Comeuppance Train and we're just getting into the mountains.
At this point aren't we all a little addicted to 'sordid'?

There can be no doubt that the Trump spectacle has lowered politics to a WWF level, Mound. It will take a lot of detoxifying by a lot of people before that is exorcised. Your point about the media is one I have pondered as well. I do hope CNN, MSNBC et. al are making plans for a post-Trump era, but my guess it will take a long time for them to wean themselves off their addiction, likely following Trump well into his post-presidency life.
ReplyDeleteI must say that I am finding the saga to the south more entertaining than the regular TV fair, talk about a soap opera!
ReplyDeleteIt is intriguing except for the random, seismic belches. Who would have imagined that the dominant nation on the planet could wind up with a narcissistic sociopath at the helm? All glory to Manitou for keeping the missiles from flying.
