Ottawa Knew
Days before the Freedom Convoy reached Ottawa the feds were warned that violent extremists had infiltrated the protesters.
The Guardian reports that the federal government was notified that the protesters were useful idiots of extremists.
Intelligence assessments – prepared by Canada’s Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre (Itac) and seen by the Guardian – warned in late January that it was “likely” that extremists were involved and said that the scale of the protests could yet pose a “trigger point and opportunity for potential lone actor attackers to conduct a terrorism attack”.The assessments offer the first real glimpse into how federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies have assessed the threat of Canada’s anti-vaccine and conspiracy theory movement.
“We knew these people were coming,” said a federal government source, who indicated that the Security Intelligence Service Canada – Canada’s main intelligence service, of which Itac is a part – had flagged the involvement of extremist groups and individuals in official briefings.
Itac reported that supporters of the convoy have “advocated civil war”, called for violence against prime minister Justin Trudeau, and said the protest should be “used as Canada’s ‘January 6’”, in a reference to the storming of the US Capitol.
Deeply disturbing, Mound. Some important people saw this coming.
ReplyDeleteWe've witnessed the power of the mob, Owen. It's why asymmetrical warfare is sometimes called "the war of the flea." This mob came with sophisticated organizers and agitators. Those truckers really were/are "useful idiots."
DeletePolice in Windsor got word that some of the Ottawa truckers who had left were en route to try to block the Ambassador Bridge again. They managed to intercept the would-be insurgents and prevent them from reaching the bridge.
Saw this coming and did nothing?
ReplyDeleteHeads should roll after this debacle .
So far only the head of the OPP has resigned , the three stooges, Ford , Kenny and Moe are still playing politics with the situation,
Trudeau should also resign along with his advisors.
Perhaps most of all the Canadian voter should smarten up for it is he or she that put these imbeciles where they are.
Fresh off the press, 911 calls in Ottawa meant to harass the system have been traced to the USA.
TB
The RCMP were busy with a far greater threat to Canadian democracy - the
DeleteWet'suwet'en protesters. Maybe the prime minister should disband the Harper-era Pipeline Stasi and unleash their skills on those who would imperil peace, order and good government.
Marching in protest is a long tradition. Mainly non-violent and always carbon-free. And a lot of marchers are needed to impact the media or even cause some 'wake-up' inconvenience for others.
ReplyDeleteThis tiny group of paid-peasant-protestors (ala other colour-revolutions) are using vehicles as weapons.
New laws are needed to declare any vehicle used in protest, as a weapon.
Interesting idea, NPoV. Seize their trucks just as we would seize boats running drugs. In both cases their vehicles are used to inflict harm and commit crimes.
DeleteSo I wake up and the slow motion Ottawa take down is still going on.
ReplyDeleteKid Gloves for the whitties.
After watching the police assaults on homeless, lefties and people of colour over the years, I almost scream when I see stuff like this from the CBC:
" after a day of furious police action against the convoy protest."
and the former paper-of-record in Canada puts this on their front page:
"Trudeau must bear the blame for his divisive words and actions" ~ JOHN IBBITSON
meanwhile the Nat Post (which just took over the Irving's Media) is on some tRumpian mission showcasing an alternate universe.
btw - the CBCNN is live streaming the polite police overtime bonanza on GEM
