O'Toole - Let's "Accommodate" Anti-Vaxxers

And he thinks he's prime ministerial talent?

Erin "Wrong Way" O'Toole can't help but make a fool of himself.

Canadians unwilling to be vaccinated against COVID-19 should be accommodated through measures like rapid testing, Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole said Thursday as health experts warned the lightning-fast spread of the Omicron variant threatens to overwhelm hospitals.

With more than 75 per cent of the country's population now fully vaccinated, he said the government has failed to keep society open through tools such as making rapid antigen tests more widely available, or by ensuring there's a homegrown supply of personal protective equipment.

The Conservative leader said he refuses to criticize people who aren't vaccinated and believes "reasonable accommodations" should be provided to people like truck drivers to avoid service disruptions and exacerbating supply chain challenges. He warned that mandatory vaccination policies could result in a shortage of "tens of thousands of workers" in the crucial trucking sector.

Yeah, because there's nothing more certain to keep those trucks rolling than to a brigade of 18-wheel anti-vaxxers plying the truck stops on our highways with Omicron sweeping the country.  "Reasonable accommodations" for unreasonable people, check.

"In some cases, you will have to try and find reasonable accommodations between keeping people safe and people not losing their job, losing their home, not being able to provide for their kids. I don't think that position is irrational when people's lives are on the line."

Here's a reasonable accommodation - vaccinate to protect yourself and your kids and the society you want to pass freely through or stay the hell home. Or maybe we can find a way to lock you in your cab although we'll probably have to design a seat that flushes. I'm full of great solutions.

  1. The next hard political decision that will have to be made on behalf of the health care system, and to bypass doctors' concerns of do no harm prior to patients being presented for treatment, is for the unvaccinated to be refused "service" at hospitals. Turn 'em away and let them bleat.

If a good nine months of cajoling certain people whose brains are off in another dimension for some stupid reason like religion has not persuaded them to get a shot, well, in crude terms, f**k 'em. They made their choice to stand on their principles and to sometimes even interfere with healthcare people delivering vaccines and caring for the ill, marching like parades of fools unable to grasp reality, and being arseholes about it. They rejected societal norms. It's now too late for these people to get vaccinated and avoid Omicron complications. Too damn bad. They made their choice, and now they can ail/die with it. No effort should be expended on them in a time of crisis like this, when people who followed public health advice are getting ill. Who now deserves care? Deniers?

As for that idiot O'Toole mouthing inanities that "Trudeau" should have done this and that for the antivaxx dopes, he should be ridiculed publicly for his outright idiocy. Kee-rist, even Trump tells his base to get vaccinated. This is a real crisis now, Erin baby, and your Con crew of nutballs are as crazy as anti-vaxxers. Imagine if that crew of dolts were the federal government now.

I have no time for any of this horseshite from the unvaxxed and Cons. They are simply unCanadian. I think we'll see refusal of hospital service to the unvaxxed in Quebec first. I saw some senior official telling the unvaxxed to stay home last night -- and appreciate his sentiment, but those unvaxxed fools are just the dopes who wander around in public flouting basic medical advice.

  2. OK I think I understand . Jails provide " reasonable accomidation ". Obviously OToole want to put the unvaccinated in jail.

  3. My reaction matched all of the above: O'Toole is O'fool. Then I remembered that S. Harper lurks behind the expendable O'Scheer types and Harper and his ilk play the long game, and play it well.

Why did tRump sit on his hands last January 6. All his favourite pundits, his staff and kids all pleaded for him to call off his dogs. One year later, tRump is completely 'vindicated' by the beliefs of his base.

In 2015, tRump was considered a good joke that helped sell cable news.

Rob Ford and his older brother, both considered as idiots that sell the news.

They were/are all playing the 'long game'.

O'fool is playing to the "Six Million Canadians Back Trump?"

  4. Here in Nanaimo our hospital is 'accommodating' anti vaxxers from northern BC and Alberta.
The intensive care beds these unvaxed selfish bastards lie in could be better used elsewhere.
A solution often suggest around here is that these people be given a palliative care bed , not one in ICU.
