Define "Clash"

 

Okay, fair enough, it was the Globe & Mail.  The headline read: At Fairy Creek  protesters and police clash over old-growth logging in British Columbia.

"Clash" now there's a loaded word. It conjures up images of angry confrontation, a mob taking on the man. Right.

That's a real insurrection, eh? Those evil scofflaws and their violent ways to be sure.

  1. Perhaps you've heard of Pacheedaht elder Bill Jones who (unlike their current official leaders) supports the protestors. He is not alone. Indigenous people can be on both sides of these issues.

    A metis person demanded that all outsiders leave Fairy Creek/Pacheedaht territory including industry, media and protestors in order to respect Pacheedaht sovereignty.
    When I suggested that this was a naive idea and that if industry were to leave then the protestors would be happy to go home, I was informed my comment was 'a racist take'.
