They Myth of China, the Climate Champion

If you think of China as leading the fight against climate catastrophe, you might want to think again.

China now contributes 27 per cent of global carbon emissions. The United States, while still a per capita carbon heavyweight, accounts for 11 per cent of global emissions.

China’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2019 surpassed those of the United States and the developed world combined, according to an analysis published Thursday by the research firm Rhodium Group.

...China’s emissions reached 14.1 gigatons of carbon dioxide equivalents in 2019, the Rhodium analysis calculated — more than triple 1990 levels and a 25 percent increase over the past decade.

Measuring China’s greenhouse gas emissions on a per capita basis also shows a sharp increase. China is home to more than 1.4 billion people, and its per capita emissions have reached 10.1 tons annually, nearly tripling over the past two decades.

As the 2030 deadline looms ever closer, China, like many countries, seems to be long on promises and short on sincerity.

  2. The biggest mistake the progressive movement has made is to believe that progressive suggestions by historically none caring political parties , tho's that put profit above all are an olive branch !
You fooled me one, shame on you etc, etc.
Without a real change in how our vote counts little will change.
