Don't Stay Up Tonight

 

If the predictions are right and this election turns out to be a nail-biter, save those nails for tomorrow.

Elections Canada says the 1.2 million mail-in votes it received won't be counted until Tuesday. Unless the Liberals or Conservatives score a breakaway victory tonight the winner won't be known until tomorrow.

Suffice to say this election has not gone smoothly.  There have been reports of frustrated voters waiting in long lineups at the polls. Elections Canada's website has had glitches that can leave some voters confused about where to go to vote.

First results from the Globe have the Libs with a 4 ridings to 1 lead. NatPo has it 4 to 2. That's Atlantic Canada, a Liberal bastion.

All of this in the middle of the deadliest wave of the pandemic and we will probably still not know the winner until tomorrow.

    Looks like I was wrong about Old Toole. Hey, I'm as good as any polling group. At 11pm here, 7 pm where you are, the networks are calling it a Liberal probably minority government. Twinkletoes manages it again. I suppose I can handle that better than having a bunch of Cons frothing away madly on some individual rights/business tangent/tax credits for people who don't earn enough to pay taxes bullsh!t, and cancelling the CBC for being communist. The thought of Polievre or Rempel in charge of anything gives me biliousness. The cons picked up at least two seats in my Atlantic Region.

    Bedtime indeed. The Northern Repugs struck out again.

      It's a bittersweet result to be sure, Bill. It's also telling. JT began with a majority on the promise of a Liberal renaissance. He failed to deliver, reneging on his solemn promises. When he had to run on his own record instead of Harper's he lapses into minority territory losing the popular vote to the Tories.

      This is not a nation in love with Margaret's son.

    I have been suffering from (HERPES) disease for the last four years and had constant pain, especially in my mouth. During the first year, I had faith in God that I would be healed someday. The Cognoscenti Syndrome

  There is a group of people I think of as the Cognoscenti, people who are well educated, very informed and of rapidly diminishing relevance. Their ranks include writers such as Chris Hedges and Glen Greenwald. These are people who have honed an almost Puritanical value system, readily finding fault in any direction.
