The On-Again, Off-Again KXL Pipeline

CBC is reporting that Joe Biden intends to move quickly after his inauguration this Wednesday to cancel the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.

U.S. president-elect Joe Biden has indicated plans to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline permit via executive action on his first day in office, sources confirmed to CBC News on Sunday.

The purported briefing note from the Biden transition team was widely circulated over the weekend after being shared by the incoming president's team with U.S. stakeholders.

The words "Rescind Keystone XL pipeline permit" appear on a list of executive actions supposedly scheduled for Day 1 of Biden's presidency.

  1. Jason Kenny is going to be pissed off.
Other than someone opening a Tesla dealership down the road from his home , this is his worst nightmare.
Biden has huge issues to contend with , lets hope is up to dealing with them.

    1. This also puts the prime minister in a bind. He wants to align Canada with the Biden administration on major problems such as climate change while still promoting climate wrecking high-carbon/low-value bitumen. The cognitive dissonance that is the hallmark of Janus Trudeau is astonishing.

You keep me worried, you keep me bothered, all the time.
    Alberta, what's on yo' mind?
Alberta, don't you treat me unkind,
Alberta, don't you treat me unkind,
'Cause I'm worried, 'cause I'm bothered, all the time.

    1. Kenney was predictably verklempt when the news came out but he must have known that Trump was his last, best hope to see the KXL brought home.

Last evening I had one of those "interesting times" moments as I realized we have lived to see and survive what might be the worst two presidencies in American history: Bush/Cheney and Trump/Pence.

We thought, when Obama was first inaugurated that we would never see anything to rival the fiasco caused by Bush and Cheney. Then, out of the swamps and bayous word came of something emerging, the Tea Party. There was something worse and it was heading for Washington.

    2. Eugene McCarthy made so much sense to this teenaged Canadian, I was sure he would swifty ride a public groundswell and lead the US/world to peace. Sigh.
After a few more painful lessons I eventually decided that it is impossible to overestimate the collective stupidity of the American system/electorate.
